PRESS RELEASE: Eastern Ontario Reopens a Strategic Agricultural Gateway After 30 Years

December 1, 2025 – Eastern Ontario has reopened a key agricultural gateway with the arrival of the bulk vessel Federal Montreal at the Port of Johnstown, the region’s first bulk fertilizer ship in nearly 30 years. Led by V6 Agronomy in partnership with the Port of Johnstown, the project reactivates a modern Prairie-to-Seaway marine-rail corridor that links inbound fertilizers with outbound grain and other agri-products. The Canadian-controlled route is designed to strengthen national food security, improve supply chain resilience, and expand global market access for Western Canadian producers.
